“Let the Orientales be as enlightened as they are brave”. José Gervasio Artigas

Our office was selected from a small private competition to carry out the design and execution of the remodeling works for the Embassy and Consulate of the Oriental Republic of Uruguay in Venezuela.

The Uruguayan diplomatic headquarters should be framed in the spirit and identity that characterizes the South American nation. To achieve this goal, we established that the Embassy library should be located at the heart of the project, to invite visitors to browse their books and discover the literary and cultural work of the southern country. Likewise, white marble tiles were installed on the reception wall with the bas-relief of the National Shield of Uruguay, alluding to the beautiful carved marble cladding that decorate the “Hall of Lost Steps” in the Legislative Palace of Montevideo, which walls show us the four fields that form the uruguayan national shield.

The scope of the service carried out by us ranged from the designing phase to the construction one. Additionally, two pieces of library furniture were designed for the occasion: the “Maroñas” table in stainless steel and black glass and the “Tacuarembó” modular shelf in aluminum and steel.
