The Hospital de Clínicas Caracas opened a private architectural competition for the remodeling of the institution’s dining room and kitchen area, and our proposal was selected as the winner by the jury.

The area to be intervened is located on 2nd floor of the hospital is part of a complex network of offices, public areas, service areas, circulation, etc. This means that the 1400 m2 of direct intervention area must consider the rest of the adjacent areas.

The objectives of the proposal include:

  • Reorganization of the Kitchen areas (hospitalization and restaurant). The current kitchen is separated into two independent sectors, allowing greater flexibility in operations.
  • Update facilities to current regulations. After almost 40 years of operation, the kitchen and the areas surrounding it have developed organically and outside of the clinic’s development plans.
  • Renew the image of the cafeteria and restaurant. The access and restaurant areas of a clinic play an important role in terms of the public and its perception by the community.
  • Implementation of the execution of the work in stages. The hospital kitchen is a service that must remain operational 365 days a year and under the strict monitoring of the HCC Nutrition department. Ensuring this happens is essential.
